Policies and Procedures
These policies and procedures are not created to make anyone's life difficult. They are put in place to ensure everyone's health and safety involved in my program. Please read these carefully and be sure that you agree to them. These polices are enforced.
Illness of a Child or Myself
This is inevitable please be sure you are prepared for this by having a back up provider. Illness of myself or my family is unpredictable just as it is with yours. It may happen at the last minute and that can not be avoided. Your child may not attend daycare when they are ill. Please ask yourself these questions when trying to decide if they may attend. Has the child vomited in the last 24 hrs? Has the child had three or more loose bowel movements in the last 24 hrs? Is the child's temperature 100 or higher without medication? Has my child had a temperature without medication in the last 24 hrs? Does my child have a rash that has not been diagnosed by a Dr? If you answer yes to any of these questions your child is too ill to attend daycare. If your child has been sent home with a fever over 100 degrees they may not attend daycare the following day. They must be fever free without medication for 24 hrs to ensure that they are healthy. They may have a communicable illness and we don't want that illness spread through the daycare. If I become ill and have to close the daycare it inconveniences everyone. The last question but possibly the most important you should ask, can my child participate in normal daily activities? This includes, walking to the park, walking to playgroup, playing outside, participating in arts and crafts, walking to and from school to pick up the school age children etc. If they are unable to do these things regardless of the reason they may not attend daycare. We must walk to school daily to pick up school age children and not all children fit in the stroller, they need to be well enough to participate in our daily activities.
If your child becomes ill while they are in my care you will be phoned to come and pick up your child. I will first phone the home number provided, then the work numbers for both parents. If cell numbers are provided I would try those before trying contacts but if none of those numbers are reached then a contact on your child’s file will be called to pick up the child.
Daycare Schedules
At the time of registration your child's schedule will be decided. If there are changes required to this schedule we will discuss it. If for any reason you are not arriving for drop off or pick up at your regularly scheduled time please call to see where your child can be dropped off or picked up. We do not stay at home all day so if you are not arriving on time we may not be at home.
